Wednesdays 9:30am - 12:30pm

December 5 - February 13
(no class on December 26 and January 2)

Learn about birds and how to paint them with convincing form and color. We will work from reference photos and explore the basics of bird anatomy, proportions and features.

We will learn how to use the qualities of watercolors to create beautiful paintings. We will look at how to figure out which details to focus on and paint realistically and which features can be represented more loosely.

I recommend buying a copy of The Laws Guide to Drawing Birds. You can find it on Amazon or buy directly from the author's website at johnmuirlaws.com/store/. While we will not cover this book in class, it will give you invaluable information to understand birds and how to draw them.

For suggested art supplies, click here. For this class I highly recommend buying Arches 140 lbs watercolor paper, either cold press or hot press (whichever you prefer).

There is a $35 cancellation fee. No refunds for cancellations received less than two weeks before the day of the workshop.
